MY REVIEW

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When I finished reading this book, which served as both a conclusion to the Pretty Little Dolls series and as a segue to The V Games series, it took forever for me to encapsulate my thoughts into a comprehensive string of words for a review. I’m still struggling, but here goes.

It is always a delight being inside the mind of a killer. Call me crazy, but there’s something intriguing about discovering the reasons for why they do what they do. But I was more confused than anything else while digging into the minds of Benny and Viktor. There were more wtf moments than ones where I understood what was going on. The Benny I knew and had come to love was someone I no longer recognized. I never once expected him to be manipulated because he was always the manipulator. He got away with so much and left everyone chasing their tails. So for him to not only give into Viktor but to be controlled by him went against everything I thought I knew. And then for these two men to enter into a sexual relationship, while hot, was not where I thought this story was going.

And now I’m grateful that I read Vlad before reading this book because that segment of the story wouldn’t have made any sense to me. Luckily there were more parts that worked for me than those that didn’t. These authors always find a way for me to crave what I shouldn’t. Their stories are such guilty pleasures. I’m not the biggest fan of how Dillon was depicted in this book, simply because he was always more than competent at his job and he was seen as a bumbling fool here, but I guess it had to be done to build up the story to the point where it was left at. I wonder if we’ll be seeing Benny again in The V Games series. I’m definitely looking forward to that and hoping I’ll see the Benny of the olden days.
