Synopsis
GeorgieI lie to survive.
Have since I was sixteen and my world fell into chaos. But I found a way to endure, or rather it found me. Now I’m a prisoner of my own doing, hiding behind a false mask so no one sees the truth. Not even the man I want but can’t have—Deck. But I messed up and the lies are spilling over, out of control.
Deck is unrelenting and will settle for nothing less than the truth. He demands everything from me—EVERYTHING—even if it rips me apart.
Deck
I kill for a living.
Unyielding—It’s how I survive in my line of work. I bend people to my will…except Georgie.
But that ends now.
I've played her game for far too long. Now it's time we play mine.

Review
I've tried to read this book a few times. Started and stopped. Began and quit. I even tried reading the next book and the same thing. I finished and enjoyed the third one because I didn't have to go through all of ... this. Third time's the charm though, right?Okay, so I didn't give up. I tried to truly suspend my belief so that I could enjoy myself here. But there was just too much to pretend to believe that I got a bit lost along the way. First there was Georgie...
She went from one extreme to the next and all of it followed absolutely no logic. Good girl, in her matching sets, one hairstyle, follows the rules. Then she became a grieving hysterical female who took apart her well-organized life. Then she became someone who volunteered to be cut and then continued to volunteer to be cut and found a way to be picked to be a special assassin and then made up a ridiculous cover, codename 'Chaos', and then she continued to make absolutely no sense. It was like a constant loop of crazy and not the fun kind.
The only thing that really kept me going was trying to figure out when Deck and his team would finally figure out what was really going on with Georgie. I wanted to see how they would react and I was super disappointed. If this were real life, she'd be called out. They pretty much took it in stride and I wanted her to be punished. Honestly, if it weren't for how well this story was written, I probably wouldn't have finished. It was absurd, the heroine was trash, and the insane amount of 'coincidences' had me rolling my eyes way too much! I loved this author's Tear Asunder series so I know she does phenomenal things with words. If you can bypass the foolishness of the heroine, you'll find yourself in for a treat of a read!
