Dragons Need Love, Too by Lani Lynn Vale

I will wake up early tomorrow, workout, eat a healthy breakfast, and look presentable.
- Brooklyn, sleeping on a throne of lies

Finding Love in Dallas
It was Nikolai's turn to find his mate and she just happened to be the unconscious, broken girl he rescued from a Purist compound. In the last book, I Like Big Dragons and I Cannot Lie, Brooklyn's uncle attacked the dragon riders, shot her, and tortured her as a means to an end. Family, right? Nikolai felt a compelling urge to rescue her, not having a clue that once he touched her, he'd never be able to let her go. She was his destiny and her life had changed... even if it happened while she lay sleeping.

What we get:
🔥 DRAGONS
🔥 insanely hot sex between two characters who were simply adorable with one another
🔥 we get to learn more about the powers Nikolai shares with his dragon (and now Brooklyn)
🔥 more is revealed about the Purists plot to destroy dragons and dragon riders
🔥 Brooklyn finds herself in trouble and I loved how Nikolai saved her
🔥 we're gifted with more of the funny, loving, and intriguing lives of these riders. I loved getting more of Keifer & Blythe's story, even if it ended up being a bit terrifying for them (and me)

I've discovered that Ian's story is next and I'm hoping that I'll find out why both Keifer and Nikolai treat him the way they do. They've both told their women to stay away from him and I have to wonder why that is. He's obviously trusted or he wouldn't be in the sanctuary or part of their group. So what's the deal? I'm more than a little invested in this series because not only is it full of well-rounded characters and a hysterically funny but deep plot, it's both light and heavy and entertaining as heck and I can only cajole/wheedle/whine/beg/bribe/threaten that more of these books are created. Each dragon rider needs his very own story and I'm off to start Ian's.

Cut myself shaving, and all I have are Hello Kitty Band-Aids. My balls look silly.

So... I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first book for one reason... towards the climax, Brooklyn started acting the fool. She spoke against Keifer (who is the KING) and got mad when Nikolai sided with his brother over her and her ridiculousness. Here's why I had issues:
✦ did she forget that she was held hostage, tortured, and almost DIED before these men rescued her?
✦ did she forget that the threat of her uncle's people, the Purists, still existed?
✦ why did she feel her life was more valuable than everyone elses?
✦ she was childish, irresponsible, immature, bratty, and I got so freaking mad at her

So yeah, didn't love this one as much because her biggest issue was that she was being kept safe at one of the most beautiful places in the world. She couldn't go out and about and felt that she was being oppressed, much like she was when she was growing up in the Amish community. She was utterly ridiculous and I'm still pretty upset about it.

About the Book
Dragon Prince Nikolai Vassago’s day starts out fairly normal: get up, kick some ass, fondle his beard, take some names.

One minute he’s participating in a run-of-the-mill mission, and the next minute, he’s rescuing Brooklyn, the woman that is fated to be his, from the clutches of a criminal mastermind.

Nikolai is quite pleased with his fated mate. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Brooklyn.

Living in a religious commune for the majority of her life meant Brooklyn wasn’t exposed to all of the outside world’s craziness. The moment she turned eighteen, she was off and running towards whatever new experiences the outside world could give her.

In her quest to experience it all, she tends to jump into situations without weighing the potential consequences until it’s too late. Brooklyn just wants to be free to make her own decisions and live her life as she pleases. But in her quest to save herself from the limitations of her old commune life, she lands herself in a dangerous situation, and Nikolai swoops in to her rescue, throwing her on the back of his dragon and flying off into the night.

He’s a man-with-a-plan kind of guy, and she’s a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants (not on the back of a dragon!) kind of girl.

Nikolai, however, has fate on his side, and whether she is ready to accept her fate or not, it won’t be denied. Brooklyn’s stubborn, though, and Nikolai will need to use all of his powers to show her that she’s exactly where she needs to be.
