They took too much.
Left too little.
I had nothing to lose...until him.
-- About the Books --
Lana ~ I didn't expect him. I didn't want to fall in love. But I can't let him go. Logan Bennett makes the world a safer place. He's brilliant. He's a hero. He locks away the sick and depraved. But while he's saving lives, I'm taking them. Collecting the debts that are owed to me. Ten years ago, they took from me. They left me for dead. They should have made sure I stayed dead. Now I'm taking from them. One name at a time. I've trained for too long. I've been patient. I can't stop now. Revenge is best served cold...They never see me coming, until I paint their walls red. Logan doesn't know how they hurt me. He doesn't know about the screams they ignored. He doesn't know how twisted that town really is. He just knows people are dying. He doesn't know he's in love with their killer. No one suspects a dead girl. And Logan doesn't suspect the girl in his bed. They're looking for a monster. Not a girl who loves red. Not a girl in love. I'm a faceless nightmare. At least until I tell them the story they've pretended never happened. But in the end, will Logan choose them? Or will we watch them burn together?

#1. The Risk
"You're supposed to be dead.""You should have killed me deader."
I finally took the plunge and started this mindf*ck of a series and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been in sort of a book funk lately and nothing gets me out of it quite like a fantastic thriller can. I’m guessing here, but I think the farther I get in this story, the more stabby I’m going to get and I. Can’t. Wait!!
Lana’s a serial killer. She’s not out there killing any and everyone. She’s got a revenge list and she’s taking her pounds of flesh. Why she’s doing this is only hinted at, but what I’ve got so far is far from pretty. It seems she was viciously attacked and should be dead… but here she is, coming after the very men who brutalized her. I’m all for it and would gladly wield a dull knife on her behalf!
Logan is an FBI profiler who hunts serial killers. Lana’s kills have already hit his radar, but lucky for her, he’s got a few cases he’s working on and her’s isn’t at the top of the list… yet. He’s a good man who believes in justice and I’m wondering what will happen when he finds out just who he’s in a relationship with.
I enjoyed the writing and I was entertained by the nuances of the big picture the author was setting the scene for. Although Lana and Logan’s relationship seems to be primarily sexual rather than emotional (not saying they don’t care about each other, but Lana hasn’t shared herself with him for obvious reasons), I’m hoping to see it develop into something more solid.
I’ve already got book two set up on my Kindle and I’m off!
#2. Sidetracked
There’s a certain high you get from fooling the world into thinking you’re the lamb instead of the rabid wolf.Lana’s endgame still hasn’t changed. She’s falling in love with Logan, the FBI profiler who is after her, but that love doesn’t seem to be enough to stop her. His warmth has seeped into all of her cold places, but her revenge isn’t just about her. Finding happiness for herself doesn’t erase what happened and what the people who hurt her and those she loved most need to suffer.
I absolutely adored Lana’s dedication, to both her goals and to Logan (and his to her). The author did an incredible job of gifting this character with likeable features - she’s deadly and yet so vulnerable it’s impossible not to love her.
I’m still waiting to find out what happened to her. I was surprised by her empathy for someone who seems to be after her, but I understood her motives and approved of her actions. Die pedophiles. DIE!! I’ve got book three already loaded up and I’m looking forward to some more answers and killing!
#3. Scarlet Angel
Ooooh child… I finally got some answers and they were horrifying!! My heart absolutely broke for Lana and all she had suffered. The Evans’ honestly couldn’t catch a break. No wonder she turned into a vengeful angel. I’m not saying I condone her actions, but… I’m also going to say that I’m not sure what I would do under the exact same circumstances.Last book ended on a HUGE cliffhanger and when it picked right back up in this one, I laughed and laughed and laughed. How could I be laughing when a serial rapist and killer was terrorizing a woman? Because that woman was a freaking ninja assassin! The scene was totally unrealistic, but I was fabulously impressed by the way the author did it. It gave me so much freaking joy!
The walls are closing in. Logan is getting closer and closer to figuring out that Lana is the serial killer he’s after. He’s learned almost the whole story that Lana has been hiding and despite her finding a new ally, I’m not sure if she’s going to be safe when she goes about completing her list. Will she finish her kill list before he finds out? Will he leave her and she finishes it then? Will she be locked up or killed? I’m hoping Logan helps her knock off the remaining people. That would be awesome!
#4. All the Lies
The flock have a new shepherd to fear. Baa, bitches.I’m suffering from heart palpitations right now. The entire book had me on edge and then the ending… Daaaaa-yum! Seriously?
Logan’s team is dealing with another senior agent who thinks he runs things… and the head honchos are letting him. They’re all gathering in Lana’s hometown and, of course, she has to be there. How else is she going to paint the town red? The goal: force the township to admit what happened ten years ago. And if a few bodies have to be gutted or flayed, then so be it.
This part of the story was much more gory than the others and I LOVED IT!! Some important people on Lana’s list have definitely felt the pain and I’m just sitting here enjoying every moment of their torment. I wonder who’s next?
Now that Logan thinks he knows everything, and acted in unsurprising ways, I wonder what will happen to Lana now? Will she devolve? Will she succumb to psychosis? Or will Logan surprise the heck out of all of us?
#5. Paint It All Red
“I’m still the twisted monster of the night, while you’re the honest hero in the light.”Paint It All Red was packed with the rest of the elements of Lana’s idea of the perfect revenge. There were more (and gorier) deaths, tension was high on revealing the truth to the town and to the world, and both Lana and Logan weren’t sure what they wanted to happen in the end.
I absolutely loved that when everyone learned Lana’s truth, they suffered such huge conflicts of conscience, ethics and morality. There was no denying the atrocities she had suffered and they realized how impossible it was to not sympathize with her. Logan was obviously the most conflicted after he came to the conclusion that he was in love with the vicious killer he sought. I felt for the guy but all I wanted was for him to suck it up and stand by her side. Did I get my wish?
Read. This. Series. If you like twisted thrillers, you’ll LOVE this!
